Purpose: The Present Study aims to review the science produced by the faculty of Guilan university in Web of Science. And  their Scientific map will be illustrated using Hist Site during the twelve years (2001-2012). Methodology: The Present study is of applied type. Using scientometrics` methods and applying Bradford and Lotka principle and citation analysis, the scientific output in web of science is analyzed. The statistical population in this study is selected by census and includes all of the scientific output the faculty of Guilan University has produced from 2001 to 2012. In order to analyze, the data has been collected by searching the web of science and the data has been analyzed in three stages using SPSS, Excle and ISI.exe software and then to plot the scientific history of this university the Hist Site has been applied. Findings: The Present study showed that during the interval of the study the researchers of the university have published 911 indexes at the web of science.  The University of Guilan has had a growth in the world sciences amounting to 22.7 %, on average. Among the researchers, Shirini has had the highest growth. The investigations showed that the faculty of Guilan University had the most collaboration with England, Australia, USA and Germany. The results showed that the researchers of this university had the most co-operations with the authors of Iranian universities including Guilan University of medical sciences and medical university of Tehran. This shows that the researchers of this university have 84 % group cooperation. Lotka principle in terms of frequency distribution and Bradford principle in terms of core journal has conformed publishing the papers of the faculty. The scientific structure of the university is based on the citationat the national and international level using the “Hist Site” software. The results indicate that the science map of this university is constituted from 4 clusters including mathematics and chemistry. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the chemistry researchers of this university have a high share in science production. Although the process of science making in this university has been going upwards during the years of this study this process has not been uniform in all of the fields of this university. Therefore, the management of the university must provide conditions so that the researchers will have high motivation and the required capabilities to get published in the prestigious international journals. This research is conducted with the purpose of citation assessment and analysis of comparative literature journal during 2007-2013. The results show that this journal within the years under study (7 years), published 262 articles in 28 issues. The collaboration of researchers shows that within these seven years 51.15% of articles had just one author. In other words, in the first four years, the scientific collaboration of authors had been weak and the majority of articles were single-authored ones. However, over the last three years authors have tended towards collaborative writing and coauthoring. This research shows that Mehdi Momtahen with 22 articles is introduced as the most prolific author. Also Islamic azad university of Jiroft branch with 46 articles is ranked as the most prolific university. Books form 90% of research sources of the authors of this journal and about 71% of research sources of this journal has been in Persian language. Manuscript profile

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the rate of using online social networks by researchers of Middle East countries and purpose of them to join these networks. Methodology: The study approach was survey-comparative performed by non-percent stratified randomized sampling. The statistical population consisted of all researchers of Middle East countries; then, according to the sample, we sent the questionnaire to 728 of them. This questionnaire was researcher-made and so, 444 of the researchers replied it. Reliability of the questionnaire was tested by the Cronbach's alpha method and the result was 0.79. We used descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, Chi-squared test, and One-way ANOVA to answer the research questions. Finding: Scholars of Kuwait, United Arabic Emirates, and Qatar had the most rate of using interconnected online social networks. Also, researchers of Bahrain, the United Arabic Emirates, and Syria showed the highest rate of presence in social networks. Visibility, increased citation, and sharing of articles by researchers of Middle East countries have been the major goals of using scientific social networks. Conclusion: Totally, it can be inferred that the rate of using scientific social networks by researchers of Middle East countries is not satisfactory and these networks have still not found their deserved place among these researchers.
