        Abstract: The purpose of this research is to achieve some of the hidden angles of contemporary Iranian history during the Qajar period, based on the reports that have been given in travel memoirs of foreigners. This article is based on the method of qualitative text analysis and it attempts to review the texts of foreign travel memoirs and extract data, concepts, topics, and ideas for interpreting the events of this period. According to the findings of this paper, Qajar elites were those who tried to make changes in the country's progress, but failed because of the government's ineffectiveness or the influence of the state or foreign intervention.
