A developmental study of oppositional disorder on different social status groups was carried out on primary and guidance school children in Isfahan Province. Based on multi-stage sampling procedure, a total of 826 third and fifth-grade primary and second-grade guidance school students were initially selected for the purpose. After a sociometric analysis the number of 288. students were assigned to four groups namely: rejected, accepted, neglected and average. Using part A of Ontario Child Health Study Scales (adjusted with DSM-IV), of the DSMIV- oppositional behavior was assessed based on mother ratings. Analysis of data reveal a significant diff-erence between the rejected and other groups. It is therefore concluded that from amongst all, negative social-status children, specially rejected ones with an accompanying behavioral disorder may be considered to be at-risk which raises concern for the issue of prevention in this group of children.
