since mother’s mind-mindedness while interacting with the infant throughout the first year of life is a critical factor and plays a significant role in predicting infant’s attachment security/insecurity, the present study focused on developing a package for increasing mind-mindedness in mothers with a 6-7-month-old infant and examining the efficacy of the package. Twenty mother-infant pairs with an insecure attachment style were selected by the Current Relationship Interview (Crowell & Owens, 1996). The participants were assigned in either experimental or control groups. Mind-mindedness was assessed through appropriate or non-attuned comments provided to the infant by the mother during a 20-minute free-play. Comparison of pre and post test indicated that mothers’ mind-mindedness in experimental group significantly increased in comparison with control group, as it was found that these mothers showed higher capacity for placing themselves in mental state of the infant. the present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of mind-mindedness in mothers with a 6-7-month-old infant on promoting infant’s attachment quality at the end of first year of infant life. Infant attachment quality was assessed by the Attachment Q-sorts (Waters, 1995). Twenty mothers with insecure attachment styles were identified by the Current Relationship Interview (Crowell & Owens, 1996) and were assigned into either experimental or control groups. The results indicated that the attachment of infants in experimental group was significantly more secure and less dependent than the control group due to their mothers’ increased mind-mindedness and their appropriate responsiveness to infant’s needs.
