The ultimate aim of a mystic after forbearing hardships in the path is to attain certainty, something to be tasted, understood and experienced only.  Certainty gives the heart, assurance,  the mind tranquility, the soul rest,  and the heart hope and pictures death as a gate towards one’s dreams.  It regards the next world very close, and loving the carnal soul far from the human realm.  The opposite pole to certainty is temptation and doubt and its path contrary to that of certainty.  Mowlana regards attainment of certainty and deliverance from doubt dependent upon God’s guidance, and true will of the wayfarer, a concept treated as the ultimate end in composing Masnavi.  The purpose of this article is to cast a look on Mowlana’s attempts in this regard bringing eloquent lyrical poems as evidence.  Manuscript profile
