The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of social competence training and social skills on social anxiety, social adjustment and social intimacy in 10th grade male students in Ahvaz. The research method was a field experiment with pre-test and post-test design with control group that were selected by multistage random sampling method 60 students from tenth grade students of Ahvaz city in the academic year 1398. The tools used were: Social Anxiety Questionnaire (Jerabek, 1996., translated and standardized by Daliri, 2002), Social Compatibility Questionnaire (Bell, 1961., translated and standardized by Akhammamadian & Sharabaf, 1996) and Social Intimacy Questionnaire (Miller & Lefcourt, 1982., translated and standardized by Daneshvarpour et al., 2007) . To analyze the data from the Mankua analysis, the inclusion in the Mankua text was followed by the Benferoni post hoc test. The results showed that both skills (social competence and social skills) were effective on social anxiety, social adjustment and social intimacy. Also, social skills training was more effective than social competency training in social adjustment and intimate social adjustment. However, there was no significant difference between the two skills in social anxiety (P< 0/72). It can be concluded that social skills training can be effective in social adjustment and social intimacy and in reducing social anxiety. Keywords: social competence, social skills, social anxiety, social adjustment, and social intimacy. Manuscript profile
