Religious and political socialization is a stream by which religious and political culture or attitudes, visions, knowledge, information, and, in brief, religious and political values are transferred from one generationto another. The present research aimed at studying the relationship between religious socialization and politicalsocialization. The theoretical framework of the research is a combination of Glock and Stark´s theory ofreligiosity and Lucian Pye´s Theory. According to the former theory, the religious socialization includes“belief”, “practice”, “experience”, “knowledge”, and “consequences”. According to the later, politicalsocialization includes five dimensions of “political activity,” “political trust,” “political effectiveness,”“political interest,” “political tolerance” which may become realizable in later stages and under a basicsocialization, especially religious socialization. A survey method of descriptive-analytical type was used to dothe research and, the data were gathered using two methods of documentary- and library-based and survey bythe researcher-made questionnaire. The studied population included 384 individuals of 18-28-years old living inIran´s central province. Though, the rituals aspect – religious socialization, in particular – is on a lower levelthan the other aspects, the results showed the success of the youth religious socialization. In general, thepolitical socialization, and internalization of political values and norms among the youth are lower in degree incomparison with religious socialization. The results also show that there is a significant relationship between thedifferent dimensions of religious socialization and political socialization. The corrected coefficient ofdetermination shows that 35% of the changes in the dependent variable political socialization was determined bythe variables entered in the regression model.  Manuscript profile

Religious socialization is a process through which religious culture is transferred from one generation to another. The aim of the current research is to investigate sociological factors affecting religious socialization. The theoretical framework of the current research is a combination of Glock and Stark, reference group, Giddens, and Bourdieu theories of religiosity dimensions. The research method in the present study is a descriptive-analytical survey, and the data was collected from two documentary-library and survey methods using a researcher-made questionnaire tool. The study population of this research is 384 young people aged 18-28 years old in Central Province. The results show that economic capital, social capital, cultural capital, the degree of encouragement of the school to religious activities, the degree of use of news and religious topics in the media, the degree of religiousness of friends, the degree of democratic family upbringing, religious family and the welfare state of the living area are among the effective factors. They are based on religious socialization. The findings of the regression analysis indicate that the net effect of the social capital variable is more than other independent variables. The value of the correlation coefficient (R) between the variables is 0.722, which shows that there is a relatively strong correlation between the set of independent variables and the dependent variable. The adjusted coefficient value of 0.508 also shows that the set of independent variables predicts 50.8 percent, i.e. half of the variance of the variable of religious socialization. Manuscript profile
