In the passionate and poetic story of Siavash in “Shah Name” only the surface structure of the story could be observed although the remains of his fruitful original myth could be pointed out in the rest of “Shah Name”. Siavash is in fact the Iranian God of Fertility of the plants who has been represented as a prince because of his failure in the myth. The present article is an analytic comparison of Siavash with Osiris and Attis. The results of the research show that the mentioned gods have certain similarities. All three have direct relation with nature and its luxuriance. All three have a goddess with affiliated with them, namely Sudabeh, Isis and Sibil who prepare the ground for their death and resurrection (winter and spring). And every year this death and resurrection is repeated for more fertility of nature. Manuscript profile

From the beginning of human creation, tales and stories were emerged. Thus, one of the most popular and important genres of literature is tales and stories belonged to folklore. In fact, when writing was not still invented, tales not only expressed people's beliefs and traditions but also recorded the history. Nowadays, the social history is sometimes written based on tales. The current study aims at comparing two versions of old Iranian story of Naranj o Toranj in two regions of Iran (Larestan in Fars Province and Almot in Qazvin Province) with Egyptian myth of Osiris and Isis based on literary symbols and heroes as vegetarian gods. The results showed the birth, death, and rebirth of heroes, the importance of flora and cedar tree in Lari myth and Egyptian myth, reappearing of vegetarian gods in plant, and beliefs in eternality of souls. Background & Aim: The number of dengue virus (DENV) infection cases has increased dramatically over the past two decades, with an estimated 3.9 billion cases across the globe potentially at risk. Patients with a DENV infection are managed symptomatically and by supportive care since there is no approved antiviral drug yet for its management. On the other hand, N. sativa has been highlighted as a potential antiviral, particularly against DENV.Experimental: Hence, the anti-DENV potential of N. sativa is analyzed in this review using major databases, including Medline/PMC/PubMed, Scopus, EBSCO, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. Moreover, the Petra/Osiris/Molinspiration (POM) bioinformatics platform-2019 was used to analyze a series of compounds (1-15) identified in N. sativa (black seeds) to identify those with promising antiviral pharmacophore sites. Results: Preliminary research showed the potential of N. sativa in the control of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and the enhancement of platelet counts. In addition, several clinical, animal, in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the antiviral, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of N. sativa. Furthermore, calculation of the physico-chemical properties of N. sativa compounds using POM analyses indicated that dithymoquinone possesses potential antiviral activity with two (O, O’) pharmacophore sites.Recommended applications/industries: As a result, N. sativa can be employed as an adjuvant/supportive therapy in the management of DENV infection in the early stages of the illness. Furthermore, N. sativa can be a source of new lead anti-DENV drugs. Manuscript profile

Fertility is a subject that has not been noticed in the myth of Siyāvash. But we can trace it in Ferdowsi's epic, Shāhnāmeh. In fact, Siyāvash is the god of vegetation and fertility who has transformed into a prince. The present article tries to show the similarities among Siyāvash and Osiris (Egyptian god of the Afterlife, the Underworld and the Dead), and Attis, (Phrygian vegetation god) by comparing them. They have a direct relationship with the nature. Each one of them has a goddess whose function is to prepare the grounds for death and resurrection (spring and winter). There is also a special rite in each of them.   Manuscript profile
