        1 - Allegory and Cnomic verse in Jahan Malek Khatoon’s Divan

        Allegory entails comparing one object with another one. In allegory, the poets increase their clarity through providing more extensive examples; contrarily, in Cnomic verse, the speaker merely presents a famous quote. Proverbs are the major spice of the Cnomic verse. However, in allegory, it is not the case. With regard to three types of allegory including simile, allegory, and allegorical metaphor and allegorical story, Jahan Malek Khatoon’s (8th century) allegories were Cnomic verse and close to the allegorical metaphors. Indeed, her Cnomic verse have continued the traditional Cnomic verse in the classic school of Persian literature. Manuscript profile
