Abstract   The research studies the efficiency of the individual method of guided imagery on the amount to anxiety and hope for life in women suffering from breast cancer at Radiotherapy Ward of Cancer Institute of Emam Khomeini Tehran Hospital. To conduct this research, first patients were selected voluntarily and were randomly put into groups ( control and experiments.) At this stage, people who were remarkably different from the others based on demographic information were deleted and the volume of the sample reached . Then, the degree of anxiety and hope for life in patients was evaluated once before and once after implementing the guided Imagery method (positive and direct willful suggestions about disease-control and recovering health) by HERTH hope index and SPIELBERGER anxiety inventory. But the difference here is that no interference was made in control group, whereas one of the experiment groups was traineds in sessions and the other in sessions. Finally, to analyze the data, the average calculation, criteria deviation and one-way variance analysis and Sheffe follow-up test. The results indicated that the individual guided imagery method is very useful in reducing state anxiety, total anxiety and also increased hope for life in women suffering from breast cancer (p= ). Moreover, it was found that hope for life is greater in persons who have used guided Imagery method for sessions than in the persons who used these classes for sessions (p= ). But there was no difference between these two groups from the viewpoint of the level of state anxiety (p= ) and total anxiety (p= ). Manuscript profile
