Praise background in Arabic poetry reaches the age of ignorance; but praise poetry in Persian, has started from the third century Hijri to imitation of Arabic prosody. In Motenabbi and Hafez’s period of life, Eulogy has become abundantly widespread, and a lot of poets have been writing a lot of panegyric. The place and position of praise in Motenabbi and Hafez’s divan has significant differences with each other. While about 90% of the eulogy in otenabbi’s divan is dedicated to the praise, only 7% of Hafez’s divan is allocated to eulogy. These two poets are also contradictory with each other in style and method of eulogy. Motenabbi has praised approximately 50 people while the praised people by Hafez are half of that number.

No matter what the extent of effort and diligencr devoted, it seems almost impossible to duely appreciate the role and works of Sharif Al-Razi: In addition to specific and unique features of his time/age which flourished in science, knowledge, and enlightment, Al-Razi had his own distinguished poetic personality.
Though this article we aim at fairly evaluating the genius and talent of Al-Razi over- shadowed by Al-Motanabi and susequently Abo-Al-A’la Alma’ri, and over- looked by his contemporaries. This study we claim is to acknowledge his state among the poets of eulogy. The research reveals his recognized rank if compared to his contempories or of other times. His eulogical backgrounds are different from those known and attributed to other poets, since it does not arise from an intention to earn a living, profit or the satisfactoin of an authority or king.

A significant part of Persian poetry consists of panegyric poem. Analyzing the works of Persian poets, it is evident that most of them have a trace of panegyric poems in their collection of poems. However, judging eulogy with the present criteria caused this unavoidable and valuable part of Persian poetry to be neglected. This problem leads to inaccurate perceptions concerning these poems along with inappropriate encounters with such kind of poets. This misjudgment has challenged the position of euology in Persian poetry since it is not assessed properly and few researches are devoted to this area. In this article, first of all, a vivid image of panegyric poem is presented. Then, its structure is analyzed. Eventually, the most important functions and values of panegyric poems are listed. Hafez is one of those few poets whosefame and popularity have been on the increase with the passage of time. In recent years, various works have been written by national and international writers on different aspects of his art. The most outstanding feature of his poetry is the mystic aspect, which, based on the common definition of mysticism, is naturally different from eulogy, praise, and flattery. However, the existence of some undeniable eulogies in his book of poems has caused some to have some doubts about his poems. The present article tries to respond to such doubts about Hafez’s eulogies in a realistic way. It does not aim to justify them.

Religious literature is one of the literary genres which has been less considered, while it has been prevalent in almost all religions and languages. In this genre, the poet shows his special regards to figures of his religion. Karbalayei Mohammad Chehri, a contemporary poet of Harsin (around Kermanshah), has paid special attention to Imam Ali (PBUH), Hazrat Fatima (PBUH) and Imam Hussain (PBUH) in his poems. The poet has expressed his regards to these figures, and has composed poems in their praise or eulogy and integrated them into his poetry. The poet has some poems in eulogy of the martyrs of the uprising standing of fifteenth of Khordad, and the city of Khomein, etc. This paper attempts to examine the poet's religious verses and his eulogy of Shiite religious leaders using analytical-descriptive method and the collections. The results showed special attitude of the poet about the Ashura and the hostile events happening that day. The reason of this eulogy is martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his family and his loyal companions. His lamentations were found to be much more than his eulogies, reflecting his love of these noble characters and his sorrow about the tragedy.
