After the World War II developing countries were growing rapidly and they experienced many social changes such as social movements. After these concrete structural changes, some abstract changes occurred within the deepest social layers and the changes in social status of the youth have resulted from such revolutions. Also the Iran has been affected by some of these changes such as population growth, urban residence development, and globalization and some outcomes of these important changes have led to generation gaps. Thus, considering the gaps between generations in Iran and the policy making and management of it is highly important. Cultural policy making is among the most effective strategies to deal with the problem. Therefore, the researcher in this study has tried to propose some resolutions regarding the primary and secondary social growth contradiction theory posed by Berger and Lockman along with investigating the gap between generations in Iran within the framework of Cyclic Policy Making Model of Jones. The research method is descriptive-analytic and data collection through a library study. The findings of the study indicate that the manner of interaction among religion, government and family has a determining impact on decreasing or increasing the generation gap. Also, the expansion of urbanization, population growth and information and communication revolutions have led new generation to face a new world and made a change in their values, norms and cultures. The research results showed the presence of generation gap in Iran and the necessity of paying attention and policy making about that Manuscript profile

The main purpose of this research is to review and critique research on generation gap. In this research, after initial refinement of the articles, 40 scientific-research papers related to the topic of generation and gap generation through the Marigans Scientific Database and the Noormags database were selected and reviewed in the areas of theoretical framework, research methodology and findings and were compared. The results of this study show that in these studies, the poverty of native theorizing, the prevalence of survey methods and the absence of combinatorial methods, scattering and inconsistency in the indexing of generational distance types, are different from the concepts of distance,  gap and generational discontinuity. In addition, the lack of precise operational definitions for these concepts, and the lack of accurate measurement of variables, and the lack of separation of the value and normative dimensions of generational distance, have confounded their findings. The research also suffers from the generalization of the results obtained without considering the dimensions and domains under study, the lack of a common age criterion in the separation of first, second and third generation generations, and the lack of attention to the validity of the tools used. In general, significant differences and inconsistencies in the results can confuse future researchers and misinterpretations of results by policymakers Manuscript profile
