The purpose of the present research is to study the status of audio-visual courses in library and information studies major (LIS) at undergraduate level. The research method is a descriptive survey one. The statistical population (155 people) included all LIS undergraduate students in Kharazmi University in 2010-11 who passed this course. Based on Morgan table, 110 students were selected as the sample through random sampling method. The instrument was researcher made questionnaire including a set of 26 items. Its validity was confirmed by the experts and its reliability estimated 0/84 through Chronbach Alpha coefficient. The data were analyzed using descriptive (frequency and percentage) and inferential (one sample t test) statistics through SPSS software version 15. The findings showed that the amount of student's familiarity and knowledge toward different audio-visual materials was different so that some students did not know such materials. To them, if such courses are presented or taught practically would be more beneficial than theoretically. Manuscript profile

Objective: The purpose of this research is to evaluate and improve the new Masters curriculum of Library and Information Science in Iran, through comparing with England’s curriculum, based on Wilson model. Methods: This is an applied research. The research has an analytical comparative method. It is done in two stages, first the content of the courses are analyzed, then compare this analysis results with each other. Data are collected through documentary research. Results: The Wilson proposal model has 4 areas of education; people, information content, information systems and organizations. Findings indicate that Sheffield University curriculum (as the representative of England) respectively covers these subjects as follows: 25.37%, 23.56%, 23.30%, 27.77%. And the Iran's: 20.11%, 39.25%, 22.48% and 18.16%. Conclusion: Results show that the curriculum of Sheffield university of England is more compatible with Wilson Model with the rate of 93.9%. And the Iran's curriculum rate is 71.5%. To improve this compatibility for Iran curriculum, it is better to increase the areas of people, information systems and organizations, and decrease the area of information content. This made the curriculum more balanced. To achieve this, England curriculum can be used as a pattern after localization. Manuscript profile

The research investigates 47 titles of presented articles during 2000-2006 in Iranian Library and Information Science Association seminars. Using content analysis whole articles have been chosen for analysis. The subjects of articles are classified according to LISA by means of LISTA online thesauruses. The results of this research from the aspect of subject orientation, show that the subject of storage and retrieval have had greatest portion with 24%. From the time perspective (2000-2003), also the greatest frequency of subjects is related to the first period with 44 %. Among 47 articles, 46 cases have had authorship and one of them had been translated. The portion of men has been 69% and the portion of women has been 31 %. 83% of articles have one writer, 15%, two writers and 2% have three writers. From the aspect of organizational affiliation, the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has had the greatest portion in presenting the articles.
