This study aimed to determine the validity of Rorchach Depression and Coping Deficit Indices in depressed and non-depressed Iranian women. 40 depressed and 40 non-depressed subjects of the same age and education level were selected according to DSM IV clinical interview and Beck Depression Inventory. In order to assess the DEPI and CDI for each subject, the Rorchach Test was administered and scored using Exner’s Comprehensive System. Results indicated that Rorchach Depression Index could be used in the diagnosis of depression and affective disorders, but there was no significant difference between the two groups in the CDI. Therefore, the ineffectiveness of the CDI in the diagnosis of depression and a probable independency between the two indices were suggested. Manuscript profile
