  International joint venture is one of the strategic alliance forms which has experienced a rapid growth among world-wide businesses over recent decades. The main purpose of this study is providing an implementation model for international joint ventures, by means of a qualitative research and employing the grounded theory-systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin, for analysis. In this research, 14 experts of strategic management and joint ventures in the automotive industry of Iran, were selected based on theoretical sampling for open and semi-structured interviews. As a result of open and axial coding, 668 initial concepts and 60 sub categories were classified into 23 main categories, and then their relationships were mapped into six major dimensions. According to the model of selective coding, the content of the international joint venture strategy has influence on the operating process of this strategy (including joint venture company formation, corporate governance, operation management, and evaluation and feedback) along with contextual and intervening conditions; the strategies of adaptation, change, or exit will be taken and ultimately, the continuation, suspension or discontinue of the strategy as consequences, will be resulted.
