        1 - Predictability of University Students' Internet Addiction based on Self-Compassion and Perceived Social Support

        The purpose of this study was to determine the role of self-compassion and social support in predictiong internet addiction among university students. Using multistage cluster sampling method, 120 students (60 female and 60 male) were selected from University of Tehran and they were asked to complete Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), Internet Addiction Questionnaire, and Perceived Social Support Questionnaire. Results of stepwise regression analysis demonstrated that self-compassion and social support significantly explain 0.758 percent of variance in internet addiction (p<0.001). Additionally, the findings also showed that self-compassion, predicting 0.719 percent of internet addiction (p<0.001), is of more importance and power in this process. Among self-compassion components, mindfulness, self-judgment, and common humanity significantly predicted 0.711 percent of variance in internet addiction (p<0.001); among these component, mindfulness demonstrated the highest role in this process.
