Abstract :
To produce estrus in dogs, 20 IU/kg PMSG (pregnant mare serum gonadotropine) was injected to six bitches with normal anoestrus for five days. On the sixth day 1000 IU/Dog HCG (human chorionic gonadotropine) was injected subcutaneously. The signs of proestrus were shown obviously in five bitches in 3 to 7 days. Four of the bitches showed normal estrus with ovulation and became pregnant after 72-85 days treatment, and normal whelps were born. During the period of treatment, in the process of vaginal cytological changes, parabasal cells, small, large and intermediated cells changed to red blood cells and decreased in a number of neutrophils. At the end of treatment and after it, the existence of superficial cells (anuclear and nuclear) was the main change. The result of blood sampling with medical kits in the first and last day was not too exact for progesterone measurement. It is necessary to use specific veterinary kits. In this study estrus and pregnancy rate was 83 % and 65 %. Finally, The result shows that PMSG and HCG can be very useful in the estrus existence in dogs.
