A review of the effect of different medicinal plants on heart damage markers in the condition of anabolic steroid abuse

Abstract :
Background and Aims: Nowadays, the use of energy-enhancing substances as a social problem is common not only among athletes, but also among non-athletes. Unauthorized use of anabolic steroids in competitive sports and bodybuilding athletes, which is called doping; In our country, due to the lack of advanced and efficient monitoring systems, it is unfortunately common and widespread. Abuse of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) is associated with cardiovascular complications. The use of medicinal plants has been shown to reduce cardiovascular diseases and disorders. Therefore, the aim of this research was to review the effect of different medicinal plants on markers of heart damage in the conditions of anabolic steroid abuse.Methods: For this purpose, in all databases, especially Science of Web, Pubmed, Google Octapamine, Aerobic Exercise, Metabolic disorders, keywords were searched with Mageiran, SID.IR, scholar risk factors, etc., without year restrictions. Then the articles were categorized based on medicinal plants and markers of heart damage.Findings: The results show that the use of medicinal plants in the conditions of anabolic steroid abuse can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in athletes who use anabolic steroids.Conclusion: Some herbal treatments can be considered as a safe drug of choice in controlling the problems and diseases caused by anabolic steroids.
