Investigating the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on anxiety and fear of negative evaluation of women facing divorce

Abstract :

AbstractWomen facing divorce face psychological challenges. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to commitment-based treatments in this field. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on anxiety and fear of negative evaluation of women facing divorce. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study was all women who were subject to divorce in Kerman city in 1401. 30 people were selected as a sample using the available sampling method and replaced by simple random in two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. Wells's (1994) anxiety questionnaire and Watson and Friend's (1969) fear of negative evaluation questionnaire were used to collect information. Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and covariance analysis were used to analyze the research data. The results showed that treatment based on commitment is effective on anxiety and fear of negative evaluation of women facing divorce at a significance level of P<0.01. Considering the effectiveness of treatments based on commitment and on anxiety and fear of negative evaluation of women, it seems that this treatment can be used to reduce the psychological problems of women facing divorce.
