Relationship between personality characteristics and organizational health among university's staff

Abstract :
Abstract Given the important role of human resources as a strategic source in organizations and as the main factor affecting the progress of the organization's plans, investigation of the factors influencing human capital in organizations especially universities is crucial. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between personality characteristics and organizational health in Razi university's staff in Kermanshah province. This study is of correlation type. The statistical population consisted of all Razi university's staff (N=585). The samples were selected by use of stratified random sampling method by Cochran formula (N=235). The instruments were standard 60-item personality questionnaire (NEO, 1992) and standard 44-item organizational health hoy-feedman questionnaire. This study was based on a research model containing five questions. Data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, as well as Kolmogorov test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results showed that all personality characteristics but neurosis had direct significant relationship with organizational health. Also, responsible staff used proper techniques to better deal with the work affairs and those with high deontology and conscience as well as adaptability had motivation to change the conditions to obtain higher profits.
