Abstract :
Abstract Despite the fact that addiction lead to undesirable outcomes, the recognition of related correlate factors has received less attention. The aim of the present study was to assess the prediction of drug preparation based on sensation seeking, alexithymia and self-expression in university students. For this purpose, using correlation method and questionnaire, the data collection from 372 students of Islamic Azad University of Arak has been carried out. The research questionnaire included Marvin Zuckerman sensation seeking scale study (1978), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), assertiveness of Gambril and Ritchie (1975), and the readiness to addiction scale by Wade and Butcher (1992). The results of the students’ responses have been analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression coefficient. The results showed that sensation seeking and alexithymia have positively and significantly associated with readiness to addiction, at the same time the self-expression has significant negative correlation with readiness to addiction. Also the results of the regression analysis showed that three variables of sensation seeking, alexithymia and self-expression have been able to explain 41% of the readiness to addiction.
