Abstract :
Introduction: The presence of an exceptional child in any family affects its structure so that spirituality can play an important role in the life process of the parents of these children. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of spirituality and life satisfaction on the happiness of families of exceptional children. Methodology: The research method in this study is a pre-post-test pseudo-experimental design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all families with identified exceptional children in Sanandaj city, 80 of them were selected in two groups of 40 people, experimental and control, with a targeted method. Spirituality training was conducted on the experimental group in 12 sessions of 45 minutes. The research data was collected through the standard happiness questionnaire (OHI) Oxford (1989). The reliability of the test was also calculated through Cronbach's alpha of 0.86. To analyze the statistical data, descriptive statistics indices, including mean and standard deviation, and one-way covariance analysis were used in the inferential statistics section. Findings: Quantitative data shows a significant difference between the results of the two groups. Considering the potential that families with exceptional children have, teaching spirituality and life satisfaction has a significant effect on their happiness (p = 0.05).Conclusion: Teaching spirituality and life satisfaction to the families of exceptional children can provide an opportunity to increase happiness.
