A bibliometric analysis: evaluation of scientific studies of modern and traditional financial markets (Study case of cryptocurrency market and stock market)

Abstract :

Purpose: In this paper, an attempt has been made to identify research gaps in the interactions between cryptocurrencies and the stock market by analyzing and illustrating past studies and using the bibliometric approach. Method: Using the Web of Science reference database, the researcher received and pre-processed 576 scientific documents from studies related to the interactions of two financial markets, cryptocurrency and stock, and in the course of bibliometric analysis using Excel software; VOSviewer and RStodiue have investigated dimensions such as the change in the number of publications over the years, the most important published documents and sources related to the field of study, publications, top organizations and institutions, authors and countries effective in the development of studies. Findings: The analysis of published articles shows the growth of the publication of articles and the impact of cryptocurrency on the financial, investment, and economic fields, especially on variables such as returns and stock market indices, and the diverse use of this electronic money has been the subject of research attention of the best global business centers. has taken. Results: The findings indicate the extent of the studies conducted regarding the role and impact of Bitcoin on traditional financial markets, and the studies regarding other cryptocurrencies have been done less. Therefore, the findings of this research identify the various dimensions of the emerging cryptocurrency market, its various applications, and existing research gaps.
