The impact of using tag on image ranking in Google search engine

Abstract :
Purpose: The aim of this study is how to use or not to use the tag, ranking search results in the Google search engine. Methodology: An experimental study has been conducted. In order to achieve this goal the population in this study, were selected from 30 old stamps of the images were related to the years 1952 to 1978. Images used in this study were selected from a set of personalized stamps. For doing this study, two sites were uploading on the Web and 30 images with and without tag were uploading on the website number 1 and number 2. After 40-day period time, the images in the Google image search engine, were searched. In descriptive analysis, the data were summarized using frequency tables prepared using descriptive statistics and frequency data showed. Also, the inference analysis to examine how the ranking of each of the variables mean, standard deviation and independent t-test was used. Findings: Results show that images with tag would give a total score of 265; also, results show that images without tag would give a total score of 260. Finally, the comparison of results show that total scores of rankings for the images with tag is more than to the total scores of rankings for the images without tag. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that tags of the images had significantly affected the search engine rankings of these images.
