Evaluation of study priorities and benefits of print and electronic sources from the students’ perspective in Bushehr University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, in the school year 2013-14

Abstract :
Objective: The growing amount of information accessibility via the Web, has increased the time that people spend reading the electronic media and today the printed sources is only one of several carriers required to access the information. Hence, the present study examines the study priorities and benefits of print and electronic sources from the students’ perspective University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in Bushehr 2013-14 academic year and comparison of these variables based on gender, level of education, and the school. Methods: The questionnaire in this descriptive survey was designed based on the results of the study and the theoretical background. 400 Students were selected by stratified proportional sampling from all departments of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences in 2013-14 academic years. Results: The findings revealed that students of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences have study an average of more than 5 hours a day and more their time study was spent on the school resources. Most participants also tend to satisfy their information needs through a combination of print and electronic resources. So that allocated highest priority in the selection of print resources to simple to understand, easy to use, the possibility of reviewing and repeat information and more lasting memory. and electronic sources have the highest priority to quickly access the information you need, remote access to the information needed, to obtain updated information, search capabilities and the ability to link the pages. Conclusion: So we can say students demanding hybrid information environment (print and electronic), Where Electronic information is not replace with printed information, but Provided more access points with the reduction of problems such as slow speed network, hardware and software problems, Raising the user's computer skills, On the other hand, Enrich the archiving of electronic journals, new features for this journals and training courses.
