Investigating the Adequacy of Public Library Resources for Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses: A Perspective from Librarians of Public Libraries in North Khorasan Province

Abstract :
Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the sufficiency of public library resources for entrepreneurship and small businesses from the perspective of librarians in North Khorasan province. Methods: The research method was descriptive-survey. The statistical population included all librarians of public libraries in North Khorasan province in 2023. Using purposive sampling, 116 individuals were selected. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire on library resource sufficiency for entrepreneurship. The data was analyzed using SPSS software v25 and descriptive and analytical statistics such as one-sample t-test and Friedman rank test. Results: The results of the one-sample t-test showed that North Khorasan libraries do not have sufficient diversity and quality of resources related to entrepreneurship and small businesses. In terms of overall sufficiency score, the results indicated that North Khorasan libraries are not suitable in terms of resource sufficiency related to entrepreneurship and small businesses. In addition, the results of the Friedman test showed that resource sufficiency has a better access status than other areas. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained managers of public library organizations in North Khorasan province allocate necessary funds to diversify and improve the quality of resources related to entrepreneurship and small businesses.
