Abstract :

The diversity in the distribution of Iran's natural geography has led to people with different characteristics and features living in different regions of the country. This spatial diversity has led to the emergence of distinct social behaviors in each of Iran's geographical regions, influencing electoral behaviors as well as motivation and levels of participation in elections. The way people engage in political decision-making varies across different regions of the country and within each province, with one of the most significant reasons being the spatial-ethnic distribution in the geography of elections. Consequently, in the past, the dominant approach to voting in the country has been traditional, but over time, with increasing national identity changes and challenges, the geography of elections has also faced extensive changes. Therefore, this present study evaluates the spatial distribution pattern of presidential election votes in Iran's ethnic regions using the Topsis model through a descriptive-analytical and applied method. The study population consists of all experts in the fields of political geography and sociology, with a sample size of 35 individuals based on the Cochran model. For data analysis, both SPSS for average testing and the Topsis decision-making model in MATLAB were used. The results indicate that the proximity and location-centric patterns have the greatest influence on the distribution of presidential votes, while the traditional radical pattern has the least influence.
