Explain and Predict Emotional Divorce based on Avoidant Attachment Style, Ambivalent/Anxious Attachment Style and Realistic Marriage Expectations in the Relationship of Couples in Tehran

Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to explain and predict emotional divorce based on avoidant attachment style, ambivalent/anxious attachment style and realistic marriage expectations in the relationship of couples in Tehran. method: The current research is descriptive-survey and correlation type. The statistical population of the present study included all married individuals referring to counseling and psychological service centers in District 1 of Tehran in the spring of 2024, of which 160 were selected as a sample using a random sampling method. Research data were collected using Gottman emotional divorce questionnaire (1998), Collins and Reed adult attachment scale (1990), and Nelson and Jones (1996) marriage expectations scale. Data analysis was done in two parts, descriptive and inferential, using Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression tests by SPSS version 26 software. Results: The results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between avoidant attachment style and ambivalent/anxious attachment style with emotional divorce. Also, there is a significant negative relationship between realistic marriage expectations and emotional divorce. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that avoidant attachment style, ambivalent/anxious attachment style and realistic marriage expectations predict emotional divorce in couples
