Abstract :
The aim of this study was to compare the relationship between physical activity level and academic achievement motivation of gifted male students before and one year after covid-19 quarantine. The research method was correlation-comparative. The statistical population consisted of 150 gifted male high school students in Rasht. 104 students were selected as a sample using Morgan table. Beck physical activity and motivation questionnaires were completed online by submitting in cyberspace. Kolmograph-Smirnov test was used to determine the natural distribution of data, Spearman correlation and Fisher's test was used to compare the correlation coefficients before and after quarantine, and Wilcoxon test was used to compare the variables before and after covid-19. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the level of physical activity of students before and after one year of covid-19 quarantine. But changes in BMI(p=0.016) and motivation for academic achievement(p=0.000) were significant. The Comparison of the relationship between the level of physical activity and motivation for academic achievement before (p=0.40 and r=0.08) and after(p=0.5 and r=-0.05) quarantine showed. The difference between the two relationships was not significant. The results showed an increase in BMI and a decrease in students' motivation for academic achievement after one year of quarantine. But the relationship between physical activity and motivation for academic achievement before and after covid-19 was low and similar. Among the reasons for the low relationship between the variables can be the homogeneity of the level of physical activity and motivation for academic achievement of students.
