The Effect of a Pperiod of Resistance Training, Ddetraining, and Retraining on Serum Levels of Interleukin-6 in Middle-aged Men

Abstract :
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a period of resistance training, rest, and retraining on serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in men. Method: The statistical population was 40 middle-aged men, who were selected based on characteristics and randomly divided into two intervention groups (n = 20) and control group (n = 20). The protocol of this study included: 12 weeks of resistance training, then 24 weeks of rest. Training and finally retraining was 12 weeks of resistance training, blood samples were collected to examine serum IL-6 levels at different stages of training and measured by ELISA. Results: The results of the variance test with repeated measurements in different training groups showed that the BMI of the subjects decreased at different stages of the training protocol (P=0.000), but a significant difference in serum IL-6 levels was observed at different stages of the training protocol. (P=0.750).
Conclusion: The findings show that with increasing age, IL-6 is an important factor in the decline in strength, quality, performance, and body adaptation, and it is effective in reducing body fat mass during resistance training, and long-term training does not affect inflammation.
