Analyzing the Role of Social Capital in the Impact of Sports Participation on the Social Vitality of Participants in Public Sports of Guilan Province

Abstract :
Aim:This research was conducted with the purpose of providing a structural model of the effect of sports participation on social vitality with the mediating role of social capital. Method:The research method is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlation in terms of the type of data and the way the research is carried out. The statistical population of the present study is all people over 18 years of age who have regular sports activities in Gilan province. According to the announcement of the Physical Education and Youth Department of Gilan province in 2022, there were 3650 people regularly participating in sports activities in Gilan province. To select the sample size, which was done by cluster sampling method and using Sample power software, 348 people were selected as a sample. In order to collect data, standard questionnaires were used. To analyze the questionnaire data, spss26 software and the structural equation modeling method with partial least squares method (Pls-SEM) were used using Smart Pls3 software. Results: The results showed that sports participation has an effect on social vitality with a coefficient of (0.74) and on social capital with a coefficient of (0.65). Also, social capital affects social vitality with a coefficient of (0.42) and has a mediating role in the relationship between sports participation and social vitality with a coefficient of (0.27). Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, providing a platform for more people's participation in sports will increase social vitality and social capital.
