Abstract :
Forests play an important role in maintaining climate and environmental stability. Several factors, with human and natural origin, cause deforestation. Deforestation has been recognized as one of the biggest environmental problems in the world. The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of wood and paper industries in the deforestation of suburban areas and the development of Sari city. The current research is descriptive-analytical in terms of method and practical in terms of nature. The information collected in this research was obtained from library and field methods. The data collection tool was questionnaire and observation. SPSS software and tests related to factor analysis such as Bartlett's test and correlation coefficients were used for data analysis. The findings of the research showed that among the fifteen indicators, the criterion of "access to transportation" with a factor load of 0.874 has gained the highest priority. After that, the criteria of "life culture" and "landscape quality" have the highest importance in terms of average factor loading. Among the five criteria, the "social and cultural" criterion with a factor load of 0.861 has the highest priority. And after that, the "biological-environmental" criterion, the "access" criterion, the "land use" criterion, and the "economic" criterion are placed. The results showed that land use planning that focuses on environmentally friendly development techniques, such as agriculture in cities and reducing the development of towns and cities, can greatly reduce deforestation.
