Abstract :
Mystical experiences, as deeply personal and inner phenomena, have consistently drawn the attention of both mystics and scholars of spirituality. The present study explores the essential features of such experiences from the perspective of Hasanzadeh Amoli, adopting a phenomenological approach. To this end, a qualitative phenomenological research method was employed, focusing on first-hand accounts of Hasanzadeh’s mystical unveilings and visions, particularly as narrated in his works One Thousand and One Notes and Man in the View of Mystical Knowledge. The research process involved collecting textual data, horizon analysis, open coding, thematic clustering, identification of shared motifs, and ultimately, the synthesis of the essential structure of the mystical experience. Findings indicate that Hasanzadeh Amoli’s mystical experiences revolve around several central themes: specific spiritual conditions and contexts, extraordinary sensory-perceptual phenomena, profound emotional states, epistemic insights and inspirations and finally, ineffability. A comparative analysis with the mystical experiences of prominent Muslim mystics—including Rumi, Ibn ‘Arabi, Najm al-Din Razi, and Sadr al-Din Qunawi—reveals both shared foundational elements and individual emphases shaped by each mystic’s intellectual framework and spiritual lineage. Accordingly, the mystical experiences of Hasanzadeh Amoli are interpreted within the context of Islamic mystical doctrine and demonstrate significant commonalities with the broader tradition of classical Sufism. Keywords: comparative study, Hasanzadeh Amoli, Islamic mysticism, Mystical experience, phenomenological approach.
