Abstract :
Golshan-e Raz, authored by Sheikh Mahmoud Shabestari, is one of the most significant mystical texts of the 8th century AH, composed in response to a series of philosophical and spiritual questions posed by the Sufis of Khorasan. This work has long attracted the attention of mystics, commentators, and scholars due to its symbolic language, allegorical structure, and its epistemological foundation grounded in the concept of wahdat al-wujud (Unity of Being). The poet’s language is multi-layered, metaphorical, and replete with mystical terminology and symbolic references, requiring deep familiarity with Islamic mystical thought and essential concepts such as being, the self, intellect, intuition, and annihilation (fana). This article aims to explore the semantic system and symbolic framework of Golshan-e Raz through an analytical and semantic approach. It begins by examining the author's purpose and context, then analyzes the structure of poetic questions and answers, and finally investigates key mystical themes such as self-knowledge, ontological hierarchy, and the path of spiritual realization. The findings indicate that Shabestari, through a rich symbolic language, has established a coherent system of mystical knowledge that continues to invite reinterpretation. This study attempts to reveal the intricate relationship between form, meaning, and symbolic codes in this influential Sufi masterpiece
