Abstract :
The prevalence of architectural space deficiencies in Iran is a conspicuous phenomenon, acknowledged by various forums. The rampant emergence of certain trivial imperfections and flaws in building facades also falls within this category. Diagnosing and addressing these deficiencies is imperative for the academic sphere. Considering the significance of education, the objective of the present study is to investigate the role of architectural education in mitigating these deficiencies. This research is of an applied nature, employing a qualitative approach based on grounded theory. The statistical population comprised professors and concerned individuals in the field of education, as well as a cohort of graduate students in architecture, from whom 15 individuals were purposively selected for in-depth interviews. The validity of the findings is assessed through participant triangulation and peer review. Data analysis is conducted using the three coding methods employed in grounded theory. The research findings reveal 27 conceptual propositions and 4 axial propositions: inattention to detail, neglect of revision, disregard for specialized topics, and disconnection from practice and lack of attention to integration. Based on analytical memos, the results attribute the root cause of these deficiencies to shortcomings in cultivation, advocating for the cultivation of a perfectionist disposition and a penchant for excellence as the preferred approach to overcoming these deficiencies. The inclination to complete tasks thoroughly and with high quality acts as a significant deterrent to the occurrence of prevalent physical deficiencies. It is anticipated through a comprehensive plan, architectural education .will progress towards redressing deficiencies and enhancing quality
