Abstract :

The present article answers the question of what is the reason for the manifestation of the desert and desert dwellers and their customs and traditions in Dolatabadi's works, especially in Karnameh Sepanj? Karnameh Sepanj is a collection of fifteen stories and a travelogue. These stories are the result of the author's intellectual and literary efforts during the 1940s and early 1950s. The reason for addressing this topic is to get to know and introduce this great writer from another angle, which, like any other research related to Dolatabadi, will certainly enrich the works of fiction and familiarize him with the author's ideology. For this reason, the cultural components in all the stories in Karnameh Sepanj have been analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method, by identifying and naming them, along with textual examples. The conclusion of the text is that the cultural components related to the desert and its people are presented in a simple and expressive style, due to the author's coexistence in its geographical location and among its people, as well as his complete knowledge of their customs and traditions. A true picture of the desert society and its people, along with its various components, is presented in a simple and expressive style.
