Abstract :
Introduction: The lack of engagement in economic activities is considered a characteristic of housewives, and the long-term psychological insecurity regarding meeting future economic needs jeopardizes their overall psychological security. The aim of this paper is to develop and validate a tool for measuring the perceived economic security of housewives. Methods: The research method was a mixed approach combining descriptive-correlational design and test validation. The statistical population consisted of all housewives in the city of Mashhad, Iran, in the year 1402. From this population, 214 individuals were selected using simple random sampling, and they completed the researcher-developed scale of perceived economic security for housewives. Data analysis was performed using exploratory factor analysis in SPSS version 22 and confirmatory factor analysis in Lisrel software. Findings: The results of the exploratory factor analysis identified four factors for this instrument: financial abuse by the husband (with 5 items), lack of entitlement (with 4 items), financial concern about the future (with 4 items), and financial dependence on the husband (with 3 items). These four factors collectively accounted for 59% of the total variance of the scale. Conclusion: The perceived economic security scale for housewives, consisting of 16 items, demonstrates satisfactory reliability and validity, making it a suitable instrument for use in research.
