Performance Evaluation of Tourism Policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Increasing Visits to Tourist Attractions (Case Study: Tourists from Iraq)

Abstract :
background and Objective: Tourism, as one of the key and high-yielding industries in the global economy, faces numerous obstacles in Iran. These obstacles include inadequate infrastructure, ineffective advertising, and lack of coordination between governmental and private institutions. Comprehensive planning and addressing these challenges are necessary to realize the tourism potential of the country. Currently, one of the effective factors in reducing the barriers to tourism development is the discussion of policy-making in this field.
Research Method: This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical and applied (practical) method and belongs to exploratory research. The statistical population of the research consists of all experts in the fields of geography, tourism, and geopolitics, estimated to be 35 individuals based on the Cochran model.
Findings: The present study evaluated the role of tourism policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and their relationship with tourism development, with an emphasis on tourists from Iraq, using the mean test in the SPSS software and decision-making tests such as Topsis. In general, economic-supportive policies and cultural policies have been more effective in attracting tourists from Iraq to policies, unfavorable status.
Discussion and Conclusion: The results showed that the most influential policies in the tourism sector of Iran on the development of tourism in the country, especially in relation to Iraqi tourists, are religious tourism and health tourism. On the other hand, other factors such as ecotourism, cultural tourism, market tourism, and historical tourism have had the least impact in this area.
