The Role of Islamic Azad University in Women's Participation: Case Study of Mianeh City

Abstract :
This study investigated the role of Islamic Azad University in developing women's social, political, economic and cultural participation as well as its role in changing attitudes toward women's participation in Mianeh city from Women's point of view. For this purpose, the related data were obtained through a questionnaire from the female students of Islamic Azad University and high-school graduates of Mianeh and were analyzed. The result showed that tendency indices for cultural, economic, social and political participation were higher than average. Tendency index for economic participation was high. It also became clear that there is a positive and significant correlation between Islamic Azad University and its role in changing attitudes toward women's participation as well as its effect on developing economic, political, and cultural participation. The result also showed that there is no correlation between Islamic Azad University and development in women's social participation. Finally, it was suggested that conditions for the women's participation in economic, social and cultural areas have to some extent been provided, which can help to promote development by receiving closer attention from the government and women's own awareness and movement.
