Abstract :
The Present research was carried out to analyze the relationship between resiliency against stress and humor and hope for future in collegiate girls. The research is of correlation type. To do the study, the researchers selected 291 female students from Shahid Beheshti University by multiple – cluster sampling method in the year 2011-2012. We used Conner and Davidson’s (2003) resiliency questionnaire to assess resilience; Tursu and Powel’s (1997) multidimensional scale of sense of humor; and Snyder’s (2003) questionnaire to assess hope for future. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed through the use of descriptive and inferential statistics, Pearson’s Correlation, and multivariate analysis of variance. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between resiliency against stress and humor, and also between resiliency against stress and hope for future. Also, there was a significant positive relation between resiliency against stress and subscales of hope for future (operating and strategic); and there was a significant positive relation between resiliency against stress and subscales of humor (humor, creative and social use of humor, the use of humor to cope, attitude to funny people and attitude to humor). Furthermore, analysis of the components of hope for future showed that both components of hope for future predict the resiliency against stress of collegians. In general, resiliency against stress plays a role in the development and growth of hope and humor these two factors, in turn, affect the mental health and lifestyle improvement in the students.
