Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between marital commitment, lovemaking styles with marital intimacy in married couples regarding the role of sexual satisfaction as mediator. In this correlational study, 272 individuals were selected among all married couples in 1393 in Isfahan applying the convenience random sampling method. Data were collected using the marital commitment questionnaires of Adams and Jones, Lee’s lovemaking styles, Bagarozy’s marital intimacy and Pini’s sexual satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using structural equation method in AMOS software. The results of the analysis showed that the direct and total effect of marital commitment on marital intimacy is not significant. But lovemaking styles significantly influence the marital Intimacy (p < 0.05). In examining the direct effects it is also seen that the direct effect of marital commitment and lovemaking styles on sexual satisfaction is significant (p < 0.05). But the effect of sexual satisfaction on marital intimacy is not significant. The results show that the indirect effect of marital commitment on marital intimacy is significant as well as the indirect effect of lovemaking styles on marital intimacy (p < 0.05). It can be suggested that the effect of sexual satisfaction on the relationship between marital commitment and marital intimacy is a full mediator since the direct effects of marital commitment on marital intimacy did not appear to be significant. But since the direct effect of lovemaking styles on marital intimacy was significant, it reveals that sexual satisfaction plays the role of a partial mediator in this relationship.
