Abstract :
Unfortunately, conventional antibiotic therapies which were used for cases of food poisoning caused by Escherichia coli are costly and ineffective. This study was carried out in order to detection and investigates the Escherichia coli infections from chicken liver lesions in Ahvaz Slaughterhouse. For this purpose, 100 chicken liver samples with typical lesion, were collected from one Slaughterhouse in Ahvaz. Lesion of samples were initially cultured in blood Agar and Macconkey agar and the typical colonies that indicate the presence of Escherichia coli, were used in complementary biochemical test. 50 liver with any lesion, were also cultured as control. Totally, %90 of samples with lesion, were contaminated with coliform, but %18 of them, were detected as Escherichia coli by biochemical tests. Non of control livers were contaminated. Despite the high contamination rate of chicken liver with coliform, hygiene management in field and processing of chicken food can reduce the risk factor of eating of chicken in Ahvaz. Complete cooking of meat and avoid indiscriminate prescribing of antibiotics, preventing the occurrence of food poisoning due to resistant Escherichia coli.
