Investigating the relationship between individual values and cultural participation in citizens of District 5 of Tehran Municipality

Abstract :

Values and value systems on the one hand affect other areas of culture and society, and on the other hand affect the quality of human life and how to behave and relationships with others; in other words, human behavior directly It is influenced by the system of values and moral principles to which they adhere, and one of the most important components of cultural development is cultural participation, which has received much attention in recent years. This study examined the relationship between individual values and cultural participation in citizens of District 5 of Tehran Municipality. The research method was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of data collection. The research instruments were the standard UNESCO Cultural Participation Questionnaire and the Schwartz Individual Values Standard Questionnaire, which were distributed among 384 respondents based on appropriate validity and reliability and through stratified sampling method appropriate to the volume. Individuals have a significant positive relationship with cultural participation (p <0.05). The results also showed that the dimensions of individual values (power, progress, hedonism, arousal, self-direction, universalism, benevolence, traditionalism, compliance and safety) with the dimensions of cultural participation (audio and video, books and publications, cultural heritage, Language, ritual and performing arts, sports activities, activities related to traditionalism, visual arts and library) had a significant relationship (p <0.05).
