The Analysis of Relationship between Perception of Social Safety and Social Isolation (Case Study: Students of Shiraz University)

Abstract :
Social isolation prevents constructive partnership of people in society. Since the perception of social safety is one of the critical variables affecting social isolation, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the perception of social safety and social isolation among students of Shiraz University. The statistical population was all students of Shiraz University. Using Cochran formula, 411 people were determined as sample size and selected using cluster sampling. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire that was compiled by using the scales of perception of social safety and social isolation. The findings indicate a reverse and significant relationship between social isolation and the variables of age and dimensions of perception of social safety (perception of economical security, Perception of Political Security, perception of judicial security, perception of psychological security and Perception of Public Security); also, the variables of gender, marital status, educational level, social class and place of residence had significant differences with social isolation; but the field of study did not show a significant difference between students' social isolation.
