Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of Hogan Grief Reaction Checklist (HGRC) among Iranian bereaved families. The statistical population in this study included all bereaved families in Isfahan in 2011(1390S.C.). 280 bereaved people were selected via available sampling method. The data were gathered by Hogan Grief Reaction Checklist (Hogan, Greenfield & Schmidt, 2001) , General Health Questionnaire-28 (Goldberg, 1972) and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (Lovibond & Lovibond ,1995) and demographic questionnaire . The exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation indicated 4 factors (dispair/ distress, personal growth, disorganization/ panic behavior, and anger & blame) in this scale. Internal consistency coefficients by Cronbach's Alpha for the 4 factors were between 0.92 to 0.98 . The criterion validity reveald high and significant correlation between HGRC subscales with General Health Questionnaire and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (P≤0.01). The discriminant validity, indicated that HGRC has the ability to distinguish between normal and pathological griefs. Therefore, the Persian version of HGRC has good reliability and validity for measuring grief reactions in Iranian population.
