Abstract :
This research examines the influence of intellectuals on social and political developments in contemporary Iran, focusing on two prominent figures, Jalal Al-Ahmad and Ali Shariati. The research method was a qualitative and content analysis of the works of these two intellectuals. The results show that intellectuals, as an effective force in the formation of social and political awareness, have played a key role in criticizing the existing situation and guiding cultural developments. By criticizing Westernization and emphasizing the revival of national identity, Jalal Al-Ahmad has explained the negative effects of modernity and has tried to strengthen the cultural identity of society. His works, especially "Westernization", address the necessity of preserving national identity against Western culture. On the other hand, Ali Shariati, by emphasizing religious concepts and social justice, has promoted political and social awareness among the youth. Shariati, with his attractive and literary language, encourages the young generation to take social action. Intellectualism, given its rich history and contemporary challenges, can serve as an effective tool in achieving sustainable development and social justice in contemporary Iran. This phenomenon should be considered as a source of inspiration for future generations so that they can build a better and more just future for their society by relying on the principles of intellectualism. This research also examines the challenges and opportunities of intellectualism in the current conditions and emphasizes the need to review intellectual approaches. Ultimately, intellectualism, as a dynamic and evolving phenomenon, requires attention and support to help improve the social and political conditions of society.
