Sociology of urban development with an emphasis on the conflict of competition and cooperation (Field study of Sari city)

Abstract :

The pattern of urban development plans in Iran has been influenced by models from Western countries for about half a century. In Iran, these plans face significant limitations due to inadequate economic and social infrastructure, high population growth, a massive influx of rural residents into cities, a lack of appropriate regulations for land use, weak civil institutions and public oversight, instability of settlements, weaknesses in professional planning institutions, and deficiencies in the protection of natural and cultural resources. As a result, there are limited opportunities for urban development and improvement initiatives. The purpose of this research is to study the sociological relationship between urban development and two social variables of competition and cooperation (citizens of Sari city) in 1402. The current research is applied in terms of purpose, descriptive and correlational in terms of method and in terms of the method of collecting information, it is a field. The statistical population of this research includes all the citizens of Sari, that a simple random cluster sampling method was used to select a statistical sample and complete the questionnaire from 420 people over 18 years old. The data was analyzed with SPSS software and Pearson's correlation coefficient, multivariate regression and path analysis were used to analyze the hypotheses. The findings of this research show that 4 independent variables (trust of Sari citizens in Sari municipality, feeling of satisfaction with municipal services, feeling of security and competition among senior municipal employees) are considered more important in the regression method, and with the variable of urban development in Sari, a direct correlation was seen without the influence of other factors, and they were able to analyze and explain 59% of the variance of the dependent variable of the research.
