Abstract :
Impulsivity can be the basis of criminal and antisocial behavior, and it is necessary to evaluate and intervene in order to prevent and reduce the possibility of crime. This study aimed to examine the psychometric indicators of the Functional Impulsivity Questionnaire among prisoners. The research was quantitative and descriptive, conducted within the population of convicted prisoners at Ardakan Prison during the years 2023-2023. Sampling was done using a convenience method, including 244 prisoners. The research tool was the Functional Impulsivity Scale (Dickman, 1990), and the data were analyzed using SPSS 26 and Amos 24 statistical software. Results indicated that the questionnaire is unidimensional with 8 items. The internal consistency of the questionnaire, assessed through item-total correlations, ranged from 0.441 to 0.663. Factor loadings above 0.4 were found to be satisfactory. Additionally, the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) was 0.045, the Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) was 0.932, the Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was 0.945, and the chi-square/df ratio was 1.484, supporting the construct validity of the questionnaire. The Cronbach's alpha for functional impulsivity was 0.805. Based on the findings of this study, the short form of the Functional Impulsivity Scale is an appropriate tool for assessing criminal thoughts in prisoners.
