Predicting academic dishonesty and self-defeating behaviors based on moral identity, self-awareness in students

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the fit of the predictive model of academic dishonesty based on the satisfaction of basic needs, family performance, through academic self-concept in medical students. The present study was a correlational study. The statistical population included the statistical population of the present study, including all male and female graduate students of paramedical disciplines of Tehran University of Medical Sciences who are studying in the 2019-2020 academic year. Were selected by cluster sampling. And the Academic Dishonesty Scale Questionnaire (Cobby et al., 1997), the Cognitive Behavior and Self-Determination Scale Questionnaire (Cunningham, 2007), the Moral Identity Importance Scale (Aquino and Reed, 2002), and the Grant et al. Emotional Self-Awareness Scale (2002). Replied. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and multiple regression by Amos software. Findings obtained in the modified model showed that chi-square χ2 (df = 69) = 310,338], = 4,498 cmin / df,, CFI = .935, NFI = .919 = .905, GFI RMSEA = .072 indicates fitness Well, these indicators are acceptable. Conclusion: The results of the present study can include important and effective practical hints about identifying the factors affecting academic dishonesty and self-defeating behaviors in an attempt to reduce this problem in students.
