The relationship between exercise and physical activities with general health and quality of life of prisoners in Gorgan prison

Abstract :
Introduction: Promoting physical activity is a useful method to prevent diseases and promote community health. Today, paying attention to quality of life and health is essential and trying to improve health and prevent diseases through physical activity and having a desirable level of physical fitness is a national priority. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of exercise and physical activity on general health and quality of life of prisoners in Gorgan prison.Methodology: The research method is descriptive-correlational and applied research. The type of research method is descriptive-correlation and applied research. The statistical population of this study was male prisoners in Gorgan, whose number was 1800, of which 183 were selected based on Cochran's formula by simple random sampling. Data collection was obtained by standard questionnaires of quality of life of the World Health Organization, Goldberg Public Health and Hilro International Physical Activity. Data analysis was performed by SPSS21 software.Results: The findings indicated that exercise and physical activity play a role in the general health and quality of life of prisoners in Gorgan prison and there is a positive and significant relationship between them. This means that sports and physical activities increase the general health and quality of life of prisoners in Gorgan prison.Conclusion: This study confirms the effect of physical activity on the quality of life of prisoners. Therefore, it is suggested that this issue be considered in future studies.
